So, I raced down from Boston on Sunday trying to make my game on time- which I did. But without a stop off at home, I played in jeans (which supposedly means I dont take the game seriously) and I didnt have my camera. So not much for photos- except for the couple here courtesy of Dan from Balls Deep. Our game was intense. We faced the #1 team, who had suffered their first tie last week, so we thoguht we might be cathcing them on a down-streak. And damn straight, we were! But it still didnt stop me from having mild chest pain from nerves throughout. Balls Deep came out big with a big ole sign, running through it before the game (see the pictures!), which got me ven more nervous. But thanks to my teammates we played strong. Even survived a mean triple play (2 outs by the robot over at 2nd) by Balls Deep. One fella came a nd tried to shoot us all down with his hand-machine guns. He knocked some of us down, but many were left standing. Poor aim. Props to our pitcher, Saif, who pitched a tricky game with his pitching arm in an air cast! Made for some bouncy pitches- but a great changeup!
After the game I checked it with some of the other teams. The Sofa Kings drink of choice this week was cosmos- in honor of an almost all-female team on the field (one guy spoiled it all!). I heard several of their players scored runs for the first time- congrats! Their opponents, Balls Of Glory seem to be having alittle trouble staffing the field. Come on BOG players- give your teammates a break- show up! its no fun to play kickball short-handed. or have to forfeit. Christopher Martins was fun- though I was sorely disappointed by lack of showing by Balls Deep. Afraid to show their faces?

Word Up From the Captains (The Captains Corner)
Uniballs
Okay, this was a kickball game. There was a group wearing Orange and they gelled as a team this past Sunday. A solid batting order and some effective base-coaching allowed the Uniballs to take an early 4 point lead in the first. Saif held Balls Deep down with some solid pitching, although Balls Deep are afraid to swing the bat, or leg. This led to one of the highest pitch kickball games I've ever witnessed. Pull the trigger already kids! Kick it! They like to bunt or walk, which flies in the face of logic considering their pre-game routine of yelling, crashing through paper banners with words on them, and in general putting on a machismo spectacle. Also, Mr. Sensitive, as we fondly refer to him actually shoots at the opposing team as he comes up to bat. Luckily for team Uniballs he was shootin' blanks all day. Uniballs were able to squelch Balls Deep's late game rally, most likely due to the energy they expended during their pre-game routine! MVP of the day was Ryan who had a big HR and also some solid play in the field. Other stars of the day include some clutch hitting from all our lovely ladies and our wounded-warrior pitcher, Saif. This was a great game and we loved Balls Deep's intensity. Another shout-out goes to the complete douche who stole Jordan's car stereo while we post-game partied at CM. This is the ultimate reason why while you're living in New Haven to only own and drive a total POS.
Sofa Kings
We had a really fun game with a practically all female team (thanks for coming Patrick!). This combined with the very strong Cosmopolitans Pam brought made our plays in the field quite amusing and ultimately led to our loss. Some of us wonder if Pam was paid by the other team to intoxicate us enough so we couldn't catch any balls, but then again, most of us probably wouldn't have caught them cold sober. We should stick to jello shots.

Our undefeated streak finally ended versus the Uniballs. Sophy as usual had a great game, including our first ever Balls Deep triple play. Even though we lost to the Uniballs, we'll give it to them Balls Deep style come the playoffs.

"Terminate them. Don't terminate me." -one Balls Deep player to his teammate who just kicked a foul ball into the sidelines which almost took out his teammate "I did that with my mind"- one uniballs player in response
