MIDSEASON

Kickballers take Ivy Lounge.

Hollah to all those who came out on Friday night for the mid-season party at Ivy Lounge. Big shout out to Dan from Balls Deep for using his club-connections (I dont know how he swung it, perhaps I dont want to know;) to score us a prime location. For those of you who couldnt make it, you missed out! There were free drinks and appetizers. Beds lined the wall (a bit surprising, I thought.). I recevied some angry words, when people found out it was me posting their "bad" photos online. sorry, action shots arent always pretty. Our charity raffle raised $$$ for the Jess Foundation (our token charity- giving small grants to local teachers). I myself won a kickball pint glass (no, it was not rigged- I paid my money too! I consider it good karma. although I did give it to Dean to hold on to and havent seen it since). I saw a little mixing between the teams, I even saw a few numbers exchanged. My only request for the next party is to be a little more open with your flirtations, so have something to write about!

And then Saturday was off to a good start- the Abe Lincolns tailgated- tent, grill and all. I think they out-shown the local octoberfest celebration going on in the pavilion. But they werent the only one with food- a shout out to the ballbusters, who played a tough game AND shared their brownies afterwards. mmmmm. The Sofa Kings had their now traditional jello shots (jello counts as food, right?) which they happily shared. If you havent tried one yet, look for the Sofa Kings this week (hint: they are the ones with the jello shots).

Oh, and in case you all were wondering- its national midwifery week! and there are at least 2 midwives in the league (ahem, myself included). celebrate!

Sofa Kings
We had a lot of fun this past weekend but have yet to see a win! We're working on it though...otherwise we may have to change our name to Yale's Sofa King Athletically-Challenged. Shout-outs this week go to Nace and Susan for super pitches, catches, and rum runners, and to Patrick and his new cleats (we hope your foot is feeling better!).

Balls Deeps
This weeks MVP was Melissa Mandak with a couple of key plays including the game ending catch.

Uniballs
Sunday proved to be a pitching duel and a rapid one at that. There were more 1-2-3 innings in this game than we saw all last season. This was a short game; From 1st pitch of the game, to last out in the 5th lasting a mere 16 minutes. I don't remember any highlights. I'm not sure there were any brave catches or dynamight kicks, just consistent play from the safety cone orange uniballed beer-guzzlers.

Abe Lincolns

With high hopes for breaking .500 on the season, the Abe Lincolns (2-3) fell to Balls Deep despite a 5th inning rally. Justin "Rodrigo" Rodriguez earned the game ball for his defensive efforts in left field.

This week, the Abes hope to stick it to the Balls of Glory.
