Word up from the Captains (The Captains Corner)
Abe Lincolns:

Abe Lincolns- lost 7-6 (bummer!) Dave was the defensive player of the game with great plays all over the field, Pete is leading the team this season in runs (3), and Rich is leading the team with "accidental" slides into 2nd base (1). Reminder - we will be tailgating next week before the game @ 2:30! Lincolns - keep an eye on your emails for food assignments. Food will help us win!
Team Awesome:
it was hard fought - they had jello shots and we had a heinnekeg....its really no wonder we tied...fun game..
Sofa Kings:
I'd like to give a shout-out to a few players Pat, who still caught a fly-out after it bounced off his head, knocking off his hat and sunglasses, and Ken, who, even though it was his first time ever playing kickball, caught the last fly-out that tied the game and helped us avoid a 0-2 season. Also, many props to Susan for bringing leftover jello shots that gave us all courage before the game.:
Ball Busters
Team Ball-Busters's all rookie line-up had a sensational debut Sunday in a 5-0 win over Balls of Glory. Leading the stingy defense was ace starting pitcher Scott Dietter who promises he will not be rolling such meatballs next game. Providing backup to the impenetrable infield was Brad "I-don't-wear-my-glasses-
Ultimate Ballz:
Ultimate Balls suffered from a very disappointing turn out this Sunday. However, Wrecking Balls generously not only offered to still play, but also gave us the extra players we needed to reach complement. And what an exciting game it turned to be. The Wreckers to an early lead, but we had one great innings and took a healthy 3 run into the bottom of the fifth. Wrecking balls then wheeled out the big plays and took the victory. In my mind it was a perfect game of kickball: warm sun, cool beer, competitive enough to be exciting, but friendly enough to mean everyone came away smiling. Justin had a fine game as pitcher, I scored a run in a comedic fashion, and Bryan brought a much-appreciated cooler of beer. However, I feel joint MVP must go to our 3 ringers: Hugh, Stephanie and Donna. We would have been nothing but bystanders without these three Judases (or is it Judai?).
Uniballs
The uniballs are still undefeated, yet that record was nearly wiped out by some fierce competition brought on by The Abe Lincolns and all their finessy bunting....yuck. This past Sunday was ladies day for sure. Sara Smiley-Smith pitched her second complete game and is carrying the uniballs on her shoulder. Meanwhile, Rachael Sirianni smoked a sweet double over the 3rd basemen while Sara Thomas and Meghan O'Connor are terrifying baserunners with their intense plays at second base. Rachel Davis stayed in front of a bomb to right field, hit the cut-off man and kept the Uniball lead intact for the remainder of the game. Word up ladies, some boys want to buy you cheap drinks at CM's.

Beer Makes a Mark:

I don’t know if you could feel it, but it seemed to me the competition heated up! Maybe the first game jitters were gone; maybe teams have gotten into a groove; maybe it was the the pressure of the media; maybe it was the beer. Alco-ma-hol came out in full force. In the can, in the

bottle, in the mini-keg, even in
jello shot-form. I myself was injured as I played second base (slide tackle from a player on the opposing team- he was safe.)- see the pic of my battle scar. I shortly went over to the Sofa Kings- a team of doctors , nurses and midwives- and a nurse gave me a shot. Boy did it make me feel better.Remember the party continues at Christopher Martin’s where we get 20% off! In case you haven’t gone yet- that’s where all the cool kids go.
Overheard... (The Gossip Corner)
“You should get points for shorts that short”
“We’re doing so much better this week. Its because we have shirts…. And shots” (the team with the jello shots)

“You left your skirt at 2nd base”
“Either way the thong has to come off”
